3. Introduction

This guide is for people who are playing through Tales of Rebirth without knowing Japanese. It is intended to be a decent but overly direct translation. This is all done with my 2.5 years of Japanese study and looking up many words online. There may be mistakes, and probably quite a few, but it should give anyone who reads it a very good idea of what is being said throughout the game.

About the Guide

 

The story is finally finished after about 300 hours. I will continue to update the optional areas, equipment, and skill descriptions.

 

When using this guide, it is recommended that you read it in place of the Japanese text while playing through the game. This translation guide does not tell what the characters are doing, just the words that are said. It will be harder to make sense of whatfs being said if you do not see the actions accompanying them. I suggest that you stay one line ahead of the text in the game so that you are able to listen to the way the character says their lines and can watch everything going on around them while having the understanding of what is being said.

 

Anything you see with a e¦f before it is a line I didnft really understand, and it is my best guess as to what was trying to be said. If anyone has a correction for those or any other lines in the game, please E-mail me at Spekio@gmail.com. I enjoy any feedback. Please do not send game play questions. About the Translation

 

I tend to leave name suffixes, so you may want to brush up on them. I even leave the tachi ending on sometimes, which is like a plural for people and means the aforementioned personfs group.

 

Mao sometimes says‚¿‚¿‚ñ‚Õ‚¢‚Õ‚¢(chichinpuipui). This is nothing more than him trying to sound cute.

 

There is no easy way to translate the politeness levels that exist in the Japanese language. In general, when someone is talking to their enemies they will be very rude. When they talk to royalty, and especially when making requests from people like the leader of Razilda late in the game, they use the super polite honorific forms. Annie tends to use the polite neutral forms of words even towards the party. The rest of then speak very informally.

1. Normal attacks only, no jutsuwaza.

2. Maintain at 2+ FG, low rate of using jutsuwaza.

3. Priority goes to jutsuwaza with low FG usage and less chanting time, moderate rate of using jutsuwaza.

4. Priority goes to jutsuwaza that can deal great damage to the enemy, hence ougi is possible.

5. Chains up attacks with usable jutsuwaza at the moment.
